The head of the Georgian Central Election Commission said the deadline for registration of candidates for the presidency of Georgia ended on Saturday and 46 candidates were nominated for the presidential election.

Mikdalazha added that 26 candidates from civil society groups and 20
other volunteers were also introduced by political parties, according to
Interfax news agency Georgia.
According
to him, presidential candidates will have to provide at least 25,983
signatures of voters to support the Central Election Commission in
support of the 30-day presidential election on September 28-6th of
October.
The
presidential elections in Georgia, October 28, will be held across the
country, with the exception of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, which have
announced their separation from the government.
Under
the constitutional amendment of Georgia, this period of the
presidential election is the last election period for the president with
a direct vote of the people and will be elected by parliamentarians in
the next term of the president.
